Collecting Spatially Resolved X-ray Data at SSRL

Tinatin Tkesheliadze recently traveled to the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) in California to conduct spatially resolved micro–X-ray absorption spectroscopy (μ-XAS) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) measurements, with a focus on the phosphorus (P) K-edge.

Experiments were performed at beamlines 14-3 and 2-3, which provide high-resolution chemical and spatial information on complex environmental materials. The goal of this work is to better understand the molecular-scale distribution and speciation of phosphorus and co-occurring elements in samples derived from groundwater treatment and contaminant upcycling processes.

Great job, Tinatin! That was two weeks of solo data collection!!!
