Current collaborations

Current
2026–2029 · Consortium coordinator

Contaminant to Commodity

Recovering arsenic from groundwater treatment sludge, investigating its use in semiconductor materials, and assessing the environmental impacts of recovery.

Funding: Water4All

2023–2027 · Principal investigator

Valorise

Investigating phosphorus and antimony recovery from waste streams, including groundwater treatment residuals and incinerator ash.

Funding: Independent Research Fund Denmark · Project2

Project archive

Earlier funded projects that helped establish the lab’s current research. Scientific collaborations can continue beyond the funded period.

2022–2025 · Co-proposer

PERFORM-II

Removal and recovery of copper and lead from geothermal brines. The work investigated ion-selective filters to reduce scaling and corrosion, including the interactions of copper with natural and synthetic zeolites.

Funding: Danish Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EUDP), within the European PERFORM-II collaboration

2021–2025 · Principal investigator

Poison to Profit

Developing chemical and electrochemical methods to recover resources from arsenic-rich waste. The project investigated separating arsenic and iron into recoverable fractions and transforming them into useful materials.

Funding: GeoCenter Denmark

2021–2024 · Principal investigator

REUSE

Foundational research on arsenic valorization from groundwater treatment sludge, linking the chemical forms of arsenic in the starting material with extraction and recovery methods.

Funding: Independent Research Fund Denmark · Project1 / Green Transition
